At what age did you first take a
bass in your hands? 16
What attracted you to playing bass?
I was lead vocalist and rather than take in a further member, I took on
the role and took to it straight away, and love playing bass
Did you play any other instrument before you started playing bass?
a little guitar and trumpet!
Can you remember the first piece you
ever learned on bass? Crazy Nights

What was your very first public
performance? A school performance in
front of 2000 people..very scary
What’s your current band?
Twisted Angels
What’s your main bass?
I am endorsed by Ibanez so it changes, but I currently use an Ibanez edb
series and an Ibanez sgr series. One is tobacco burst, the other is a
greeny flame top the edb is made of luthite with a rosewood fingerboard.r
What strings to you like best?
Ernie Ball
What is your backline bass amp
setup? Laney 400 watt R4H head, 4x10
cab and 1x15 cab
Fingers, plectrum or both?
fingers...I can get the rythm better!
What type of music do you play?
Rock/Punk
Who do you listen to when you’re not
playing? Allsorts from Evanescence
to The Misfits, Bad Religion etc
Have you recorded/released any CDs?
a few, our new album Alter Ego is available from all stores now, and our
new single, LA, is released 31st October
What was your best gig/venue ever?
Probably headlining at The Hippodrome on Leicester Square, but as long as
the audience are into it, it doesn't matter about the size of the venue.
What was your worst moment onstage?
When we first started 3 years ago we
had to perform instrumentally after the PA blew up
Were you ever on a TV show?
We've been on ITV and BBC, and our new
video is currently being shown on FIZZ etc.
Did you ever make the cover of a
magazine? a few in the UK
Do you play/own any other
instruments? I own a few acoustic
guitars and an electric guitar
Do you sing?
I'm the lead vocalist as well
Have you ever performed onstage
without your bass? In the early
days, when we didn't have a bass player
Have you played outside your own
country? Of course, pretty easy when
you live on the Isle of Man!!
What’s your opinion on basses with
more than 4 strings? haha, no need!
What do you feel is the bass-players
function in a band? To compliment
the rhythm section and provide a hard base for the song to rock on!!
Did you ever have a famous person in
your audience? Do tell! Well, we've
had the UK Subs, Norman Wisdom, the singer from Kajagoogoo (haha) and
probably Rick Wakeman.
Did you come from a musical family?
My mum loves to sing, and still
does!
Are your siblings and/or parents
involved in music? My sister isn't
very musical, but as I mentioned my mum loves rock..in fact I was born to
the sound of bat out of hell!!
If forming your ideal live band,
what instruments would you have with you onstage?
guitars, drums and bass...that's all I need , though keyboards can be nice
Do you see the bass as a solo
instrument? in many ways I used to
see it as just backing, but a lot of our newer songs use the bass very
much as a lead instrument.
Apart from your own projects, have
you played recording sessions with other artistes?
Yes, our manager often writes songs and I
sing on them
Have you ever been to Ireland?
Yes, in fact we played in Dublin last year.
Do you favour active or passive
electronics/pick-ups? either, I
don't have a preference
What other instrument would you like
to play? I'm happy with bass and
vocals
If you could be taken to a concert
anywhere on earth tonight, who would you want to see live?
hmm, probably us, because I never get to
watch our own shows!!
What CD are you listening to most
these days? I have a very low
patience threshold, I tend to flick between CDs.
What are your ambitions, musically
and personally? To be happy,
successful and to help other bands.To continue making music that people
love and to make a living from it!
Do you have a pet?
yes a black cocker spaniel called Holly
which belongs to me and our manager, who is also my boyfriend (must be
a smart dog?! - Ed.)
Do you write/compose?
I write a lot of Twisted Angels songs, but
we all have an input
Do you have a day-job or do you play
professionally? I am fortunate
enough to do this professionally
Give one piece of “golden” advice to
someone who has just bought their first bass?
Persevere, learn as much as you can, and
keep trying
Have you any “bassist” jokes to
share? haha no, but what do you call
someone who hangs around with musicians? A drummer...sorry Andrea!
