Where are you based
Dawn? Silver Lake aka Los
Angeles, California
When did you first take a bass in
your hands? A long time ago in
my 20s
What attracted you to playing
bass? Numerous things...one, I
was walking by the Whisky A-Go-Go and could hear this band playing outside
the door...and they were AWFUL! I thought..I can play better than that!
then the apartment building I
lived in was swarming with guitarists. My roommate sold me a bass and I
thought...how hard can it be? 4 strings should be easier to handle than 6!
Arthur Killer Kane (RIP) of the New York Dolls showed me how to tune up my
bass and a few notes.
Did you play any other instrument before you started playing bass?
Yes. I picked out songs by ear on an organ.
Can you remember the first song
you ever learned on bass? Green
Onions...what else?

performance? It was at the
Alligator Lounge with PINK SABBATH. We opened up for
Honk If Your'e Horny, Pleasant Gehman's band.

Camp
