When did you first take a bass in your hands? October 1997
What attracted you to playing bass? I was asked to by (other
members) Lacey and Tasha to be their bass player. I didn't even know what
a bass was, but wanted to be in a band, so I bought a bass and taught
myself to play!
Did you play any other instrument before you started playing bass?
Piano
Can you remember the first song you ever learned on bass?
I think
it was "Louie Louie"? Or some Blink 182 song...
What was your very first public performance? 1999, we (then called
Tigerlily) played a nearby town (Kimberley BC) for 85 people in a small
venue. I can't remember the name...
Whats your current band?
Lillix
What's your main bass? Fender P
Body colour/wood? Black
Neck/fingerboard? maple
What strings to you like best?
I'm pretty easy going, whatever's
around
What is your backline bass amp setup? Mesa Boogie M-pulse Venture
(the coolest purple I've ever seen! - Ed.)
Fingers, plectrum or both?
Little bit of both, mostly plectrum

custom made, 1mm
What type of music do you play? Pop/Rock
Who do you listen to when you're not playing?
The Beatles, the
Velvet Underground, David Bowie, the Cure, Joy Division, The Clash, Bob
Dylan, the Kinks, Radiohead, Interpol, Siouxie and the Banshees, etc...
Have you recorded/released any CDs? We (Lillix) just finished our
second album, out early next year!
What was your best gig/venue ever? Zepp Tokyo 2003
What was your worst moment onstage? Oh man... my strap broke once,
causing my bass to dramatically fall to the ground in the middle of a
song...that was great!
Whats your favourite album/CD? Pick just ONE??!! Well... I'd have
to say Revolver by The Beatles
Do you own any other instruments?
Mandolin, keyboard, acoustic
guitar
Did you ever perform onstage without your bass?
No! I'd feel so
naked!
Have you played outside your own country? Japan, USA
What's your opinion on basses with more than 4 strings? progressive
rock jazz fusion funk. Not my thing.
What do you feel is the bass-players function in a band?
Hold the
beats. I think of the bass as the glue.
Did you ever have a famous person in your audience? I think so... A
couple of people, you know LA... there's always SOMEone around!
When is the new Lillix record coming out
Louise?
We hope to get it out early next year,
around March. The single should be out in January, fingers crossed!
What are your ambitions?
To continue making music, as long as I
can!
