Where are you based
Brenda? Cambridge, Ohio United
States
When did you first take a bass in
your hands? When I was 17.
Decided to learn to play as a New Year's Eve resolution...And here I am!
What attracted you to playing
bass? I was told that a person
couldn't play bass unless they knew how to play guitar. I just had to
prove them wrong...I did...LOL
Did you play any other instrument
before you started playing bass?
Tried to learn guitar when I was 10. Just couldn't grasp it.
Can you remember the first song
you ever learned on bass? House
of the Rising Sun
What was your very first public
performance? An animal club when
I was 17, but I don't remember which one
What’s your current band?
Highnoon
What’s your main bass?
Fender Squier Bullet
Body colour/wood?
Bright red
What is your backline bass amp
setup? I have a WorkingMan's 12
Integrated Bass System, by SWR
Fingers, plectrum or both?
actually, I don't use either...I use my thumb mostly
What type of music do you play?
Country and Classic Rock
Who do you listen to when you’re
not playing? Country
Have you recorded/released any
CDs? We did record one song,
"Been Missing You". It got to #2 on IUMA 3 years ago.
What was your best gig/venue
ever? Cambridge Eagles 2 1/2
years ago. Nothing could go wrong that night!
What was your worst moment
onstage? The last night at the
Cambridge Eagles that our original drummer, Kris, quit because of his
"day" job. I bawled like a baby, and the place was packed.
Do you own any other instruments?
no
Do you sing?
Yes, I do lead and harmony vocals in the band
Did you ever perform onstage
without your bass? Yes, we do a
couple acapella numbers each night we play.
What’s your opinion on basses
with more than 4 strings? More
then 4 is a waste.
What do you feel is the
bass-players function in a band?
We fit in with the percussion part of the band. A bass player and drummer
need to be able to know what each other is thinking, and each compliment
each other's style.
What are your ambitions?
To make Highnoon the best damn band in
Guernsey County, Ohio. We were at the top once, but took some much needed
time off. 2006 is a new year, and we're gonna hit it strong!
